Reservations

Tex's Riverways is located in Moab, Utah. Our clients leave their vehicles in our secured yard and we provide all of the transportation to and from the river. The transportation is accomplished overland using company vehicles and by a jet boat service which operates on the Colorado River from Moab to the Confluence with the Green River. The use of jet boats is necessary due to the roadless, inaccessible and remote nature of the river corridors in Canyonlands. Jet boat service is strictly controlled by permit through the National Park Service.

Operating Hours & Seasons

Our operating season begins March 1st and ends October 31st. Our office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. seven days a week during this time. Phones are answered year-round except for the months of November and December when we're hootin', hollerin', playing outdoors and depending on our trusty answering machine.

When To Reserve

You should plan on making reservations well in advance of your trip. There is no such thing as planning too early. At least three to four months advance notice is recommended for large groups or for groups without flexible schedules. Our carrying capacity is limited and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. A deposit of $50.00 per person is required to confirm a reservation.

Tex's Riverways Logistics

Here are a few tips about our service and our routine that may help with your reservation. Equipment rental and outfitting are significant aspects of what we provide our clients. Primarily we are a "shuttle service" and like other transportation-related services, we operate on a set schedule of departure and arrival times.

  1. We are open seven days a week and can potentially provide any aspect of our service daily.
  2. On launch day you should plan on being at our office in Moab at 8:00 a.m. Ideally you will have completed all of your pre-trip shopping and be ready to load up and head to the river. We typically get to the river by about 10:30 a.m. on launch day.
  3. Pick-up time in the Confluence/Spanish Bottom area by jet boat is 11:00 a.m. Pick up time at Mineral Bottom by ground shuttle is noon. You will typically arrive back at our office in Moab between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on pick-up day.

How do I Make a Reservation?

The majority of our reservations are made via email. If you are sure of your plans and provide us a fairly complete picture of what you want, then email is a great way to make a reservation. If you are less sure of your plans or require help with trip planning, then give us a call.

What Information is Required?

  1. We need to know which trip you want to do. We are servicing Labyrinth and Stillwater canyons on the Green River and Meander Canyon on the Colorado River. Please specify which canyon you want to float and which launch point you prefer.
  2. We need to know your preferred schedule of launch and pick-up dates. It also helps to know if these dates are firm or if you have some flexibility.
  3. We need to know your group size with a breakdown of adults and kids. Please do not ask us to reserve space for people who are not committed to doing the trip.
  4. We need to know what type of boats you will be using (canoe, kayak, raft, etc.), how many boats you will be using and whether those boats are yours or will be rented from us.
  5. We also like to know if you need to rent one of our river toilets. All other rental items (dry bags, ice chests, water jugs, etc.) can be determined later. For larger groups, a rough idea of overall rental needs is appreciated.
Once we have a clear picture of the trip you want to take, we can provide a detailed quote and instructions on what's next to confirm your reservation. Upon receipt of your deposit, a detailed email (with attachments) will be sent confirming trip dates.

For information regarding trip preparation, what to bring, etc., please view the FAQs section of our website.

Prior to departure on your trip you will be briefed on safety concerns and emergency contingencies. Detailed river and topo maps are available at our office or by mail order. We can provide additional information on campsites and points of interest, in person, upon your arrival.
